Newsletter Challenge - Ribbon

I actually missed getting my Design Team Challenge page finished in time for last week's newsletter and so thought I would share the results with here on the Scrappit Blog!

The challenge was to feature RIBBON and so I decided to not only use a small piece of it underneath my photo BUT also to use some 'ribbon like' border strips as well!

Here's a little close-up too!

I love the effect of cutting apart the glitter sticker border trim and using the flower and leaf pieces individually like this - the flowers I particularly love adhering to a clear transparency and then cutting them out - they really add some wonderful dimension this way!

Here's hoping you have a fantastic weekend!

Until next time,

Shirley

Clear Mini Album

On last Friday night, I sat with my friend Deb making a mini album using clear thick acetate cheets. Both of us made a book but I only have photo's of mine to share -

I couldn't help but to add heaps of colour to mine, using alcohol inks to add texture to the edges of the inner pages and to the covers. I began by sponging on silver and cranberry ink mixed together then after dry added some pearl to the outer edges for added effect.

Mine has been left empty for now, I wanted to keep it blank to give to Deb's daughter who isn't well atm!!

Design Team Inspiration - Mini Tin

Isn't it amazing how things can start off in life as one thing - in this case a little box of chocolates - and end up as something equally as delicious!

Design Team Member - Penny, saw much more potential with this little chocolate box than just tucking it away as a souvenier!

What a truely unique & innovative idea!

Design Team Inspiration - Memory Mists

Remember a little while back, we introduced you to 'Memory Mists'?
Well, our very lovely Design Team Member - Frances, has used them to wonderful effect on this gorgeous double scrapbooking page!

Frances used some lace cut-out paper to lay over her cardstock, before lightly spraying with the 'Copper Shimmer' Memories Mist.

She even sprayed the core paper and even some of the flowers so that they would match!
What a gorgeous idea!

April CLUB Scrappit - Mini Album by Sharon Jeffs

Here's a terrific project that Sharon has made using our April CLUB Scrappit. She felt that the papers lent themselves beautifully to a distressed type of album. She has torn edges of pages, used crackle paint in blobs to fill blank area’s & attached stickers & other things to edges for an overflowing effect.
Let's a take a look inside . . .

Ragged Borders by Sharon Jeffs

Sharon loves creating ragged borders with different papers. She finds it's a great way of using up scraps of paper & cardstock whilst creating a unique & effective result each and every time!

Sharon begins by choosing 3 different pattern papers with colours that look effective together.
She then tears them into strips that are approximately 3cm wide.

She then choses two different types of border punches and she uses each on one on a particular piece of patterned paper.

To complete a border like the one featured above, she simply doubled everything and then layered them all together ie. torn edge/scallop edge/torn cardstock edge/filigree border edge/torn paper edge/etc.

How simple and effective!

As you can see from the page at left; layered borders also don’t need to be used as one long strip - notice how Sharon has cut one in half and then mitred the two halves to create a large photo corner type effect. Such a great idea Sharon!
